Seeley Lake, MT

We took our first family vacation to Montana. My mom joined us for the first part of our trip to help with Kelsey so Adam and I could do a few adventure activities. Thanks, Mom! Adam and I went fly fishing and danced the night away at Jill's wedding :)
All of us at the Double Arrow Lodge, where we stayed for Jill's gorgeous wedding!
The stunning bride! Kelsey couldn't take her eyes off Aunt Jill!

Our day trip to Big Fork, MT
Kelsey's First puppy experience. What a cutie!
Kelsey was a rockstar on the flights out to Missoula. She did a great job traveling and being in the car more than ever before. Montana is gorgeous with it's lush green trees and grass and it's amazing mountain views. Jill's wedding was beautiful and so personalized. We had a great start to an amazing vacation!

"Fitting in"

Recently, Kelsey has enjoyed fitting her whole self in numerous spaces, including the shelf on our coffee table (yet to be photographed). Here are just a few examples :)

Wolf Sanctuary

On Saturday, May 29th, we went to a Wolf Sanctuary near our house for a very hot, humid walking tour. Kelsey was a trooper with the heat and liked looking at the wolves. Many of these wolves are nearing extinction so it was a rarety to be able to see them.

LOVING yogurt

We have been battling wills (Kelsey vs. Daddy and I) in trying to get Kelsey to drink whole milk. We've tried different cups, bottles, temperatures and flavors (strawberry, chocolate and banana) and man, our girl is stubborn! ( I can't imagine where she gets that- poor, Adam!) We do feel better though knowing that Kelsey now LOVES cheese and whole milk yogurt. In order to get her to eat it, we have to give her her own graham stick to dip into the yogurt so that she'll be distracted enough to eat it when we spoon it in her mouth. I never imagined the lengths I would go to to get her to eat. If only she would eat the more fattening foods the way she eats fruits and veggies! Currently, she'll also drink about 8 oz of whole milk blended with vanilla ice cream and banana- a melted banana milkshake. (shocking, right?!) Though if we call it a milkshake, she shakes it everywhere, so we've settled on the term "smoothie." She really is full of personality and independence! We are definitely up to the challenge to help her put on weight! You've met your match little girl! :)

Loving my balloons
We can't believe Kelsey is ONE YEAR OLD! It's been a whirlwind of fun! Kelsey is walking all over the place, sometimes so fast I can't get ahead of her to keep her out of too much trouble. She loves playing in cabinets, chasing Mocha and Bella around, playing with her friends, reading books and making music by shaking, banging or dropping! She's saying so many new words and has especially grown in her sign repertoire. She signs please, thank you, my turn, milk, eat, water and more. She's following 1-2 step directions easily and pretends to go " nite nite" by tilting her head to the side. It's amazing watching how interactive she is with other kids and us and yet still we're so lucky that she's content enough to explore and play on her own as well. Her stats at her 12 month check up were 16 lbs 14.5 oz which has her fallen off the growth chart. This prompted our pediatrician to order some bloodwork which all came back fine. Kelsey now loves yogurt, cheese and with some additions (ice cream and banana) we're working on whole milk and are confident that our petite girl is going to gain weight faster. Minus her size, the pediatrician had great things to say even telling us that developmentally she's doing a lot of 15 month old skills. That's our girl!! We are so delighted with all that she's doing and even have to chuckle at her budding stubborn, funny personality. We are very much looking forward to the next year and watching the love of our lives grow! Happy Birthday, Baby Girl!
